I waited weeks for my Eufy solar panel to arrive, and I finally understand why it stayed backordered for so long. This little hardware accessory works with almost every wireless security camera model Eufy sells, and I tested it myself on the battery-powered cameras already sitting outside my house.
The pack covers the EufyCam 1, EufyCam 2, EufyCam 2C, EufyCam 2C Pro, EufyCam 2 Pro, and the EufyCam E, plus the newer 2K version camera, so nearly every battery-operated model in the lineup gets covered here.
Some of these cameras already claim a battery life of six months to one year on a single charge, drawing just 2.6 watts while running, but I still like never having to pull a unit down to recharge it by hand.
You can buy one on Amazon, eBay, or Eufy’s own online store, and the box shows up at a reasonable price for what steady charging adds to a setup. Rather than unboxing a brand new camera, this panel lets you mount a small power source right beside units you already install, giving them continuous power and keeping the battery topped off without any extra effort on your part.
Eufy Solar Panel & Cable
Inside the packaging, you’ll find the solar panel itself wrapped in soft protective material, with a slightly bumpy material across the front, plus a 13-foot cable, also called a 4-meter cable or 4 meter cable, that plugs in through a USB connector on the back.
Heavy-Duty Bracket
There’s a hole for the quarter 20 mount, a sturdy metal mount or aluminium bracket you can also call an adjustable bracket or simply a bracket, and it comes with three screw points so it holds firm once fixed to a wall.
Model-Specific Hardware Packets
You also get screws, wall plugs, and separate mounting options packed for different models, including a specific 2K 2C Pro packet and a dedicated pack for the EufyCam Solo, since that camera uses bullet-style mounting instead.
Broad Compatibility & Integrated Spool
Other bags cover the EufyCam 2, EufyCam 2C, EufyCam E, and EufyCam 1 Pro, so almost every shape gets its own mounting packet, and there’s even a spot to wind cable neatly using the built-in spool on the back.
Documentation & Multilingual Manual
Along with all that hardware, the box holds some papers, a small advertisement, and a genuinely huge manual, a 60-page document full of instructions and information in many languages, though only several pages near the front are actually in English.
Features of Eufy Solar Panel
All-Weather Durability
Once you look past the box, the spec sheet on this panel actually impresses me. It runs weatherproof and dustproof, so it can sit through rainy days, snowy afternoons, or blazing summer heat without trouble, and it’s built to withstand elements all year long, through winter too.
Compact and Lightweight Design
The panel measures about 4.5 inches wide and 7.3 inches long, weighs only 11 ounces, and still delivers high efficiency for its small size.
Adjustable Sun-Tracking Swivel
An adjustable swivel lets you turn the whole thing toward the correct sunlight direction, which matters because the sun sits differently in winter versus summer.
Long, Cable-Managed Cord
A sturdy 13-foot charging cable comes in the box, providing enough length for wall-mounted installations, with a rear cable spool to prevent messy cable clutter.
Continuous Power Supply
Once you plug in the connector, the panel gives round-the-clock power and continuous charging, quietly keeping the battery topped off so a camera trigger never catches it running low.
Installation
Since the EufyCam E camera is set back within its housing, I installed an adapter to ensure enough of the 1/4-20 thread was exposed for a tight, flush fit, and a small extension piece fixed that, and I could still connect everything without the fitting sticking out.
On another EufyCam 2, I used a sleeve and a rubber weather covering to slip on over the plug for full weatherproofing and a truly watertight, waterproof seal, since this build has to survive outside in any area for months ahead.
Next, I lined up the thread hole on the back of the panel and turned it onto the Mount using the base and threading until it sat tight, being careful not to leave the wire bundle loose while I worked the swivel to adjust it toward the correct angle to face sun.
Once the mount felt good to go, I began the cable run, running the full cable length four meters along the rain gutter, which gave nice flexibility since I didn’t need the whole 13-foot cable for a short side mount job.
Cable Management & Tidy Up
I used the built-in slots to wind cable around back and wrap excess wire, then secure wire in place to stop any unravelling, tucking things into a neat wire management setup instead of letting the wire hang loose, adding a couple of clips to tidy cable along the way for a cleaner finish.
This panel has almost no weight to it, so mounting felt effortless, and I could slide it onto the bracket, push in the USB connector, and plug in the cord without much force.
Rerouting & Final Angle Adjustment
Before wrapping up, I double-checked the length of the remaining cable, decided to undo the wire once more to reroute it near the wall plugs I had already set, made sure to run the wire cleanly rather than crossing paths, and gave the panel one more nudge to turn towards the sun so it captured full sunlight using only basic hardware from the kit.
Connection Protection & App Verification
Finally, I peeled back the rubber cover on the camera to cover the cable properly, popped in the grommet, ran the attached Eufy solar panel cabling to the port, and gave it a final look to protect the connection from rain.
That completed the physical set-up, and once I checked the app and saw it start charging and charging in app, I called the whole thing install complete and good for the season.
I even tested a version near the barbecue on a portable stand just to compare adjustments in a sunnier spot, and I’ll cover that properly in a follow-up video soon.
App View
To check real results, I grabbed my iPad Air and opened the UF Security app, sometimes just called the app, and jumped straight into live view on the camera watching over my backyard.
Immediate Solar Charge
After I finish position camera, the screen showed a battery charging indicator confirming the unit is plugged in and being charged from solar panel power, and tapping the gear icon brought up the exact number, which had already climbed from 89 to 90 percent in under 60 seconds of recording.
Full-Sun Daily Gains
I wanted to fairly judge charging speed, so I let it run into the next day too, and across a full 24 hours the camera picked up close to two percent, moving it to 92 percent, while I estimate the panel caught roughly eight hours of sun given the shading of the house nearby, close to the eight hours overnight window I’d expect in summer.
Partial-Sun Performance
On another unit near the front of the house, sunlight only reaches it for three to four hours each day, so I expect one percent a day or, at best, one to two percent a day, and right now that battery sits around 63 percent battery, climbing slowly toward 66 percent over time.
Long-Term Battery Maintenance
These dense batteries already promise six months to a year of runtime on their own, so getting even a small daily boost keeps the unit topped off nicely, and once it’s registered in the app correctly, you barely have to think about it again, sitting comfortably above 90 percent most weeks.
FAQs
Can I add a solar panel to an eufy camera?
Yes, the Eufy solar panel works with most battery-powered cameras, giving them continuous power so you never have to recharge them by hand.
Does the eufy solar panel charge the battery?
Yes, it uses slow trickle charging to keep the battery topped off, adding roughly one to two percent a day depending on sunlight.
Where should eufy solar panels be placed?
Place the panel where it gets sun all day, ideally facing the correct sunlight direction, and use the adjustable swivel to adjust for winter or summer changes.
How long does the eufy solar panel cable last outdoors?
The 13-foot, or 4-meter, charging cable is built to be weatherproof and dustproof, so it holds up well through rainy and snowy conditions.
Can one eufy solar panel work on multiple camera models?
Each pack includes separate mounting adapters for models like the EufyCam 2, EufyCam 2C, EufyCam E, and EufyCam Solo, but you’ll need the correct one for your specific camera.
